I am interested in almost all causes, but that does not mean I would support all causes. Some fanatics can create more problems they they address. My numba one cause is squid minion recruitment! Can I have an AMEN? ;)
no

nothing is meaningful without freedom and human rights.
second to that is environmentalism, though i sometimes doubt the existence global warming (always a good thing to keep in mind though, whether or not it exists)

DA is IMO a bad choice of forum to discuss those topics in details due to the innate maturity of its users. *looks below

anyways, if you are interested in conducting some sort of project or have some ideas or opportunities in mind, let me know.

I think it's a tough question, but I would have to say education. Why? I think the other causes you listed are caused/fuelled by a lack of knowledge, understanding and tolerance. I know it's not as straightforward as what I've said below, but the fundamental idea is there:

poverty- education and schooling can help people get jobs and therefore money.
human rights- tolerance. Learning about the world and the people around us will help.
famine- not as easy to solve, but learning farming methods, storing water etc...
war- again tolerance and understanding
global warming- how to slow global warming down through education
religious rights- again tolerance
animal rights- tolerance, education leading to how to treat animals and find other ways of testing medicine etc
health related issues- how to protect yourself from various diseases, how to look after yourself etc.

Yup, I think without a decent education, we can't work on the other issues.

I whole-heartedly agree with you!! I think human rights is one of the areas that disturbs me most and, therefore, the one that motivates me most to do something. I'm also very concerned about environmentalism it's funky that you should name those two :) The only time I've ever questioned global warming was when someone had put forth that people don't know the Earth well enough to say "what it should or shouldn't be doing" (to quote them). Still, having done geography for a few years, I've learned a few things and people have learned a lot about the world. One of the very interesting things to me is how the Earth goes into "glacial" and "inter-glacial" periods. The Ice-Age (obviously?not-obviously?) was a glacial period. We are believed to be in the beginning or middle of an inter-glacial period so you would expect it to be warm, I suppose. But there hasn't been a more drastic and unnatural impact on the environment as there is now with the kind of ...I guess ignorant/inconsiderate technological "advancements" that are being developed now, in my opinion. That said, I'm NOT anti-technology... I just think some things could be done with a little more thought to how it changes the bigger picture.. if you get what I'm saying (my meaning sometimes gets lost or distorted when I start saying a lot.. or people get bored, which is why I try to condense journals now..)
In any case, I've decided that even if I were to find out that global warming was not an issue, at least the environment would benefit if we made an effort to fix what we thought was a pressing matter -- as opposed to (for example) the war between the States and Iraq, where being wrong in a situation like that and acting on false allegations leads (has led) to many people being dead.

lol, true, though if I didn't, I wouldn't have known what you thought (:
Recently I've been trying to find something that I can really really get behind. There are many things with which I agree and many things to which I'm opposed, so I have opinions, but I want to know more than what I know to better back my opinions and find out ways I can help associations that stand for the same things I do.
I'm interested in hearing what other people stand for (if anything) and why they do (or even why they don't). I'm still going over ideas in my head, but before I can even get those ideas in order, I'd like to focus my energies on finding one cause (to begin with?) that I find really important.
My first instinct is to try to do something art-oriented, but if I can do something less.. euh.. I dunno if you'd describe art as "esoteric" but.. something of which anyone (regardless of whether they are interested in art) can be a part...
I dunno, anyway, if you know/find out anything in which you think I might be interested, you let me know too, please♥~
Thanks!^^
